We're Moving!

Hi friends! We want to share some more info about our news that, as of May 1st, we will be located on the Missouri side of the state line, at 827 Westport Road! This space was most notably the corner half of Spivey’s Books & Maps, which occupied the building for decades before closing in 2011. We’re super excited to be in a place where we can better serve you, as far as ease of finding us goes, as well as an operational standpoint for us—this space will effectively double our square footage.

As many of you know, we’ve been looking for a new location for the past several months. Our space in Mission, KS provided a great opportunity for us to find our footing, but its lack of pedestrian traffic is not particularly beneficial for the retail aspect of our operation.

We looked at spaces in several areas of KC, and really had our sights set on the Crossroads Arts District, based on the success we had with our pop-up shop during First Fridays. We aim to continue setting up our pop-up shop for First Fridays and other events, but decided we didn’t want to make our home there for a couple reasons:

1)   Inconsistency of pedestrian traffic – the Crossroads is bustling that first weekend of Spring and Summer months, but there’s a downturn when the weather starts to get cold, and there’s not a particularly high volume of traffic during the middle-to-late parts of each month, even during nice weather.

2)   We just couldn’t find a space that met our size and budget needs – that’s pretty self-explanatory.

So that was that. And when we found this space in Westport, we knew that we could count on getting plenty of exposure throughout each month—and pretty much year round—at a much more cost-effective budget than we were finding in the Crossroads.

While we’re set to move in on May 1st, we’ll essentially be closed for the first few weeks to make improvements and get our retail and printing operations properly setup. If you see us there, though, feel free to stop in just to say “Hi” and check out the new space, or to lend a helping hand, if you’re so inclined. In the meantime, you’ll still be able to find several of our items at the Bunker and Mash Handmade (both in Westport), and we’re also working on getting another order to Westside Storey at 17th and Summit.

Thank you all for your continued support; we hope to see you at our new shop soon!
